The opening of the floodlights went ahead on Bank Holiday Monday 30th at 7.30pm despite the poor weather during the day with a President's v Chairman's match.
The President's team (Ron Sturgess) beat the Chairman's team (Ian Woodward) 219 to 185 (on aggregate -I think, the match score being 8-4 ) with one game being unable to finish due to the time curfew for the floodlights.
The first game on saw the Chairman's wife Lynda finally triumph 21-19 over Tim Sellens in a long fought out battle between two relatively inexperienced bowlers.
In their own match the Chairman thumped(not literally -Bowls is such a gentle game - who am I kidding!) the President 21 -5.
Other notable games were Richard v Elliot, Des (who won!) v Irene, Keith v Phil C, John v Mick, Sheila v Hilary & Anne v Margaret and the one that didn't finish Rob v James (although the hot air generated could have powered the lights !)
Thank you to the 26 in all that turned up. Matt W won the draw for the bottle of Whisky and thanks to John Bridgen who did the burgers and hot dogs - delicious!
